Born in 1974, Tehran, Iran. Lives and works in Zurich, Switzerland. Salon 94 presented Shirana Shahbazi's first US solo exhibition, Flowers, Fruits, and Portraits, in 2004. Shahbazi explores in various media - painting, photography, and handmade carpets - the complexities of contemporary Iran, and most recently, the West. The artist employs images from the different genres of still life, portraiture and landscape to offer a complex view of a new cultural migration.
